Star of the North Concert Band was formed and incorporated as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization in 1994. The majority of financial support for the band comes from dues and tour payments by band members with additional income from our Associate Members and donors. Anyone can become an Associate Member of the band by contributing an annual, tax deductible donation of $25. Associate Members can receive concert notification mailings, are eligible to tour with the band, and may receive a band lapel pin upon request. Contact Jane Hogan (president) as listed on the home page to initiate the associate membership. Anyone wishing to make a tax deductible donation in any amount can do so by sending a check to "Star of the North Concert Band" at the address listed on the home page. These donations will help defray costs such as in acquiring music, paying for rehearsal space when needed, and occasionally some performance venue space. Money has also been used for t-shirts, band jackets, and some musical instrument equipment. Another way to make a tax deductible donation is to pay with a credit card using a service provided by GiveMN, an affiliate support organization of Minnesota Philanthropy Partners (MnPartners.org). As on a GiveMN webpage, GiveMN was formed in Nov. 2009 to grow charitable giving and make it more efficient by moving more of it online. In turn, GiveMN uses a web secure payment service for donations called Razoo.   Click this "Donate Now" button to go the GiveMN/Razoo/Star of the North donation page.
